(Halifax, NS) - The IWK Health Centre Foundation and C100FM wish to thank generous donors from across Nova Scotia for helping to raise $303,606.00 at the 9th annual IWK Radiothon on C100FM, from February 17th to 19th, 2010.
“We are grateful to C100FM listeners for making the IWK Radiothon a success,” says Brad Jacobs, VP Development, IWK Foundation. “We also owe a huge thank you to IWK caregivers and the many families who allowed us to share their stories on the air—their personal journeys inspire giving and remind us to celebrate each and every dollar that helps the IWK provide excellence in specialized care.”
C100FM personalities took to the airwaves for 44 hours over three days, broadcasting live from the IWK’s Dr. Richard B. Goldbloom Pavilion. Guest hosts included several on-air staff from CTV.
“We are proud to do our part to help improve care for the patients and families who rely on the IWK,” says Earle Mader, Program Director, C100FM. “Our listeners continue to give year after year, demonstrating how vital the IWK is to our community.”
In addition to acquiring over 100 new members of the IWK Superstars Club, the IWK Radiothon raised funds for the Spiritual Health program as well as critically needed equipment, including a fetal heart monitor, SMART pumps and specialized stretcher beds.
This was a banner year for the annual Change Bandits campaign, which raised $73,950.82 for the purchase of two pieces of perioperative equipment. This year’s Change Bandit hero, Alex Delaney, wore his cowboy attire to announce the grand total.
The IWK Radiothon on C100FM is sponsored by Scotiabank, Floors Plus, Strange Adventures Comix & Curiosities and MICCO Companies. A special thanks to partners Children’s Miracle Network, Foresters and Unity Life.
