your support helps
The IWK Foundation inspires and celebrates giving to support excellence in specialized care for Maritime Families. Together with our donors, we are enhancing excellence in care for many years to come.
For Maritime women, children, youth and families, the IWK is an important resource for highly- specialized health care. Every day lives are saved, new friendships are formed, and memories are created. The IWK is an exciting, vibrant and meaningful place to work, and a comforting place to be when sick.
This would not be possible without the generous spirit of our most valued assets - you, our donors. Thanks to your support, the IWK is able to purchase critical medical equipment, provide essential programs that support IWK patients and families, and fund ground-breaking research.
Last year, the IWK Foundation received an outstanding $16,311,251 from over 31,000 donors. Your support is what makes the IWK an internationally respected, world-class organization. We are a centre of excellence and a leader in the health care community. For more information on how your support helps, we invite you to review the IWK Foundation's Annual Case For Giving (French).

patient Monitor, emergency department

As a result of the 27th Annual Telethon for Children on CTV, the IWK Health Centre Foundation was able to purchase a new Patient Monitor for the Emergency Department. This high-tech piece of equipment will facilitate full monitoring of critically ill and injured children and youth and will greatly assist in the department’s response to individual needs. The monitor is compatible with the new monitors in other areas of the Health Centre.
In addition, the patient monitor will allow staff to keep an eye on vital signs including blood pressure, heart hate and oxygen saturation.Patients requiring monitoring include those in need of procedural sedation and trauma cases as well as patients with seizure disorders, diabeties, and asthma.
Thanks to the generosity of Maritimers, the IWK Health Centre has a new state-of-the-art patient monitor that will enhance the level of care in the Emergency Department.
