I see donor impact every day

As a member of the IWK’s Emergency Department team, I have seen first-hand the powerful impact donors have on the IWK Health Centre. Throughout the years, your generosity has helped purchase new specialized equipment for patients who visit the Emergency Department. For that, we are truly grateful!

Donors, like you, helped purchase a total of 15 patient monitors to monitor vital signs – one of the cornerstones of care we provide to patients experiencing an illness, injury or trauma. It’s like having a window to the inside of a patient. As the Emergency Department had approximately 33,025 visits from children and youth last year from across the Maritimes, these monitors are in huge demand and are of tremendous importance to the patients cared for each and every day.

Donor generosity did not stop there!

When we needed to purchase a central monitoring system for our department, you were there to support us. This system connects all of the patient monitors together in one central area. It immediately notifies members of our team to changes in a patients vital signs that may signal changes in his or her condition.

The power of giving continued. You helped purchase new patient stretchers and a Broselow cart for the resuscitation / trauma room. This cart allows for quick and easy access to appropriate size resuscitation equipment during emergencies.

Make no mistake - this is all possible because of you!
I know I speak for many IWK staff when I extend a heartfelt thank you for your ongoing generosity and support. You truly play an essential role in providing world-class care to Maritime patients and families. For that we are extremely grateful.
