It’s a home away from home. It’s a place to receive cuddles and comfort from a loved one, a “theatre” where they watch movies, and a “table” where they eat meals.
It's a vital piece of equipment.
The IWK Foundation is fundraising to replace 95 obsolete patient beds with new wireless smart beds.
For Lindsey and Roger King of Dartmouth, NS helping to purchase a bed hit close to home. Following a procedure, their eldest daughter Ivy recovered in a new wireless smart bed at the IWK. To date, our donors, like the King Family have helped fund over half of the new wireless smart beds. We need your support to purchase the remaining beds for IWK patients like Ivy.
We became IWK Foundation donors because we believe Maritime children deserve the best. Little did we know that one day our daughter would need a wireless smart bed. Seeing her recover in the new bed was extremely impactful both as a parent and a donor. Roger King, Ivy’s father
These new wireless smart beds include innovative features like gel mattresses and other key features that will improve the quality, comfort and outcomes for patients staying at the IWK.
From children and youth who are recovering from surgery, to those battling cancer, to women on bed-rest during pregnancy, thanks to the generosity of donors, like you, wireless smart beds will become the new standard for patients across the IWK Health Centre.
