Zaccari, IWK Patient

Zaccari

Born with a rare and life-threatening kidney disease, Zaccari needed a kidney transplant to survive. In February 2018, his mom received the call that would save her son’s life.

Logan Gibb, IWK patient

Logan Gibb

When Logan’s mom Jean was pregnant, she found out there was a 50/50 chance the baby would inherit her condition; Pfeiffer Syndrome. It’s a genetic condition where the soft spots of the skull fuse together before birth, affecting the growth of both his skull and mid-face.

Lilianne Savoie, IWK Patient

Lilianne Savoie

When ten-month-old Lilianne began to walk, her parents noticed that something just wasn’t right.

As she grew, her hip began to make a clicking noise. She was referred to the IWK where she was diagnosed with developmental dysplasia of the hip.

Mya Williamson, IWK Patient

Mya Williamson

Mya was the 2018 Change Challenge Hero. She began fundraising for the IWK when she was three years old when she brought all of her piggy bank money down to the live Radiothon broadcast.

Lauren Whiteway, IWK Patient

Lauren Whiteway

In 2012 when Lauren began high school in her hometown of Moncton, NB, she started to experience symptoms of Selective Mutism (SM), an anxiety disorder that left her unable to speak in specific situations.

Soon, Lauren’s SM progressed to the point where she could only speak at home.
