Halifax, NS - Listeners of the 14th Annual IWK Radiothon on C100 FM were inspired to make a difference to the patients and families who rely on care at the IWK, donating $370,336.72 during the event on February 6, 2015.
"Every year, we are overwhelmed with the generosity of C100 FM listeners and their commitment to helping children at the IWK," says Jennifer Gillivan, President & CEO, IWK Foundation. “Every donation big and small that our community makes ensures that patients and families in our region have access to the specialized care they need right here at home. To our many donors, the team at C100 and our sponsors, thank you for continuing to make a difference."
IWK Radiothons raise funds to support the most urgent priority needs of the IWK Health Centre, which could include advanced technology, research, improved facilities and up-to-date equipment. This directly benefits patients like 13-year-old Caden Flynn.
Caden visits the IWK to receive treatment for cerebral palsy. He recently underwent an extensive surgery to correct ligaments in his legs and with the support of a walker, he is recovering well and slowly getting back to doing what he loves – playing sports. Caden’s story was shared as part of C100 FM’s Radiothon broadcast.
This year’s IWK Change Challenge, a community-based fundraising program in support of the Radiothon, was also a huge success, raising an impressive $63,500.
Donations can still be made to the IWK Radiothon by calling 1-800-595-2266 or by visiting www.iwkfoundation.org/radiothon.
