IWK Foundation celebrates $320,000 gift from Atlantic Superstore and the Give a Little, Help a Lot™ campaign

Halifax, NS – October 26, 2017– Today, Atlantic Superstore employees demonstrated to IWK patients and families how much a little change can help when they presented the IWK Foundation with $320,000 - the total from the 2017 Give a Little, Help a Lot™ fundraising campaign. These funds are raised by customers who add $2 to their grocery order to support the IWK, or through additional fundraisers hosted at individual Atlantic Superstore locations.

“Year after year, our Atlantic Superstore colleagues and customers show that they recognize the importance of giving back to their community,” says Mark Boudreau, director of Corporate Affairs for Loblaw Atlantic. “The IWK connects all Maritimers, and we are thrilled to be able to give back to this world-class facility.”

“The dedication of Atlantic Superstore and its customers over the last 30 years is truly awe inspiring,” says Jennifer Gillivan, President & CEO with the IWK Foundation. “The funds that they have raised directly supported the urgent care needs of the IWK Health Centre, and the patients who rely on the IWK every day.”

“The IWK depends heavily on the generosity of donors and campaigns like Give A Little, Help a Lot to ensure we are in a position to fund our most urgent care needs at all times,” says Dr. Krista Jangaard, Interim President and CEO at the IWK Health Centre. “We are so thankful to the Atlantic Superstore for their continued support.”

Funds raised by Atlantic Superstore help support the most urgent priority care needs of the IWK -- which have in the past included surgical equipment, anesthesia machines, trauma carts, infant scales - all of which are vital to the provision of world-class care. Since 1987, Atlantic Superstore has raised more than $2.86 million for the IWK.
