"I can't tell you what this place has done. Not only for Connor, but making sure that we as parents were ok." – Nicole Poplar, Connor's mom

One of the worst things a parent can be told is "your child has cancer."

In July of 2015, Connor's parents knew that something was wrong with their son. He wasn't interested in his usual activities, and his face was swollen near his eyes. After being sent to the IWK, doctors ran some tests and that's when the family was informed that they would need a specialist – an oncologist. Connor was diagnosed with Burkitt's Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, an extremely aggressive form of cancer that doubles in size every 24 hours.

I’m grateful we have a place in the Maritimes where the sickest kids can receive the care they need. - Nicole Poplar, Connor’s mom

Connor has been through a lot since being diagnosed. Despite the challenges he's faced, he is a happy and energetic little boy. Connor's journey isn’t over yet. He will continue to be cared for at the IWK throughout his childhood.
