We first met Lauren, now 19 years old, during the 2017 Moncton Radiothon.
In the summer of 2016, Lauren was referred to the IWK Emergency Department, where she was admitted to the Garron Centre for Child & Adolescent Mental Health. She was fighting a severe episode of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) which had brought absolute terror to everyday tasks.
“The atmosphere of the Garron Centre was bright, colorful and promoted recovery. From the moment I stepped into the Garron Centre, it was inviting. The care that I received was amazing and the nurses and doctors did everything they could to make me feel better as soon as possible,” says Lauren.

After telling her story on Radiothon, Lauren began to receive national and international attention, and is now completing her first year of university and is a jack.org public speaker on mental health issues.
