The Maritime community was first introduced to Mia in 2011, when she was three years old. During a regular check-up, her doctor felt a mass in Mia’s tummy. She was immediately admitted to the hospital in Moncton where it was discovered that she had a tumor on her kidney.

Then two years of age, Madeline was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and would need to travel to the IWK Health Centre immediately for further testing and to start treatment.

Howard & Judy Murchison, of Summerside, PEI, know first-hand the impact of having the IWK Health Centre close to home. Their grandson, Parker, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010.

In 2013, Chloe Davis wasn't feeling well. Tests at the IWK Health Centre confirmed her parents' worst fears - Chloe had cancer.

In July 2015, Connor was diagnosed with Burkitt's Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, an extremely aggressive form of cancer that doubles in size every 24 hours.
