Atlantic Health Care Coalition Society (ACHCCS)

As an organization representing over 300,000 members, retirees and their families across Atlantic Canada, it comes as no surprise that the Atlantic Canada Health Care Coalition Society (ACHCCS) supports the IWK.

The ACHCCS is the first coalition of its kind in Canada. It currently has 86 member groups comprised of over 800 union locals throughout New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

This fall, the ACHCCS announced a $10,000 multi-year commitment to the IWK Foundation—something Fern Tardiff, executive director of the ACHCCS, calls a natural fit.

“Many of our members and their families across the region rely on the IWK,” says Fern. “In the spirit of helping our members, we are proud to support the IWK and the incredible care it provides patients and families in our communities.”

The ACHCCS and the IWK Foundation also have many shared values, including a commitment to the health and well-being of Atlantic Canadians and a belief in the power of a collective.

This multi-year donation from the ACHCCS and its members will ensure the IWK has access to specialized equipment, advanced technology, ground-breaking research and updated facilities for patients and families.

In October of 2024, several members of the ACHCCS visited the IWK to see the impact of donor support first-hand and hear directly from an IWK patient family. They toured the world-class Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)— funded entirely by donors—and learned about innovative plans for the Emergency Department redevelopment.

The visit to the IWK has fueled the ACHCCS’ desire to continue giving back in the years to come. Thank you to the ACHCCS for supporting women, children, youth and families who rely on the IWK for specialized care.
