NSLC is making spirits bright at the IWK this holiday season with $485,000 donation

Halifax, NS (December 10, 2020) – The IWK Foundation is thrilled to announce that the NSLC is donating $485,000 to the IWK. This donation was made possible through the support of the NSLC’s employees, customers and vendor partners and includes funds raised from in-store campaigns, employee fundraisers, vendor contributions as well as corporate commitments. Combined with the recent success of their Share the Good Cheer program, the NSLC’s donation has more than doubled from 2019.

“For over thirty years our team has proudly supported the IWK for the good of our community,” says Greg Hughes, NSLC President and CEO. “The COVID-19 pandemic has made this year extremely challenging for those in need. Through the remarkable generosity of our customers, partners and team members we are able to do our part to ensure Maritime families continue to receive the best care at IWK Health here in Halifax.”

As one of the IWK Foundation’s most long-standing donors, the NSLC understands the importance of Maritime children and families having access to the best equipment, facilities, technology and research. That’s why year after year the funds they raise support the urgent priority needs of IWK Health. In the past this has included equipment like phototherapy blankets used to treat babies with jaundice in the Family Newborn Unit and surgical telescopes which connect to a camera allowing surgeons to perform surgery without large invasive incisions.

“We are so grateful for the partnership we have with the NSLC, particularly during a year that has been so unpredictable,” says Jennifer Gillivan, President & CEO, IWK Foundation. “We were once again humbled by the overwhelming support of the NSLC’s employees, customers and partners. This fundraising total is outstanding and it will make a tremendous difference at the IWK.”
