Casey’s Sandbar Golf Tournament

People playing golf on a sandbar.

Imagine this: it’s a warm summer day in Prince Edward Island. You’re walking along the beach--red sand beneath your feet, the Confederation Bridge in the background. But it’s not your average beach walk, this time you’re playing eight holes of golf with your friends and family right on the sandbar at Seven Mile Bay, all while raising funds for a cause close to your heart.

Ron Casey has hosted this unique event each summer for the last 37 years. What started as a friendly tournament for friends and family has now evolved into Casey’s Sandbar Golf Tournament and supports Maritime women, children and families who rely on the IWK.

“Our family and extended family have had to attend and use the expertise of the IWK for various health conditions. It just made sense to make this activity a way to give back to the IWK!” shares Ron.

This annual event comes with a unique challenge for the organizers – the tides! The tee time of this tournament is dependent on the tides and adds an extra fun spin to this already quirky event. Bringing families and communities together, Casey’s Sandbar Golf Tournament is an incredible example of what can happen when you think outside the sandbox.

Each year generous community sponsors pitch in to make this event the success that it is! Thank you to Ron and everyone who participates and supports this special event. In 2025 the event broke its fundraising record donating $1,650 to support Maritime families who rely on the world-class care of the IWK.

The 38th annual Casey’s Sandbar Golf Tournament will be held on July 25, 2026.
