When 12-year-old Canon was undergoing treatment for kidney cancer at the IWK in 2021, his family set out to find a meaningful way to give back and show their gratitude for the specialized care he received.
Inspired by Canon’s love of all things spooky, the family turned his passion for Halloween into a fundraiser built around a motto that says it all: “Fighting scary with scary.”
Over the past five years, House of Doom has brought together neighbours, friends, volunteers, and generations of local kids, turning Halloween thrills into spook-tacular support for the IWK Foundation, raising nearly $80,000.
In 2026, House of Doom is entering an exciting new chapter—and things are about to get a whole lot spookier.
After five years at its original home on Lindenwood Terrace in Dartmouth, the haunt is moving to a new, larger location at Green Fam Farm in Hubley, in partnership with owner Ben Green.
This new home will give House of Doom more room to grow, more room to scare, and plenty of space to keep its family, community, and charitable spirit alive.
While the boos may be bigger and the scares may be scarier, the heart of House of Doom remains the same: bringing people together and turning a love of Halloween into an opportunity to support Maritime children and families needing the advanced care of the IWK.
We are incredibly grateful to Canon and his family, along with the countless volunteers, neighbours, friends, and supporters who have helped bring House of Doom to life.
