IWK Patients

Briannarose, IWK patient

Briannarose

In the middle of the pandemic, Briannarose began experiencing many different symptoms that mirrored COVID-19 – including fever, body aches and simply feeling unwell. When the symptoms did not subside Jennastar, Briannarose’s mom, took her to their local hospital in Edmundston, New Brunswick.

Liam, IWK patient

Liam

Baby Liam is what we call a heart warrior at the IWK Foundation. Before Liam was born the doctors noticed some abnormalities with his heart during a routine ultrasound.

Emily & Katie, IWK patients

Emily & Katie

In June 2020, Whitney and Matthew, along with their daughter Julie, took the big leap of faith to move across the country from Saskatchewan all the way to Truro, Nova Scotia, to take up their responsibilities as the Salvation Army Ministers in their community. Whitney was also expecting twins.

Anabelle, IWK patient

Anabelle

At the very start of December 2017, Anabelle was brought into the world and was seemingly a healthy baby. While Anabelle always came across as a mellow baby, as first-time parents, both Stéphanie and Andre thought it was normal and everything was fine.

Bruin Pothier, IWK patient

Bruin Pothier

The Pothier family never expected to welcome their third child into the world during a global pandemic. They also never expected that their baby boy would require life-saving care in the IWK’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
