Sacred Temple Tattoo

Jamie MacKay and his wife, Cara, have been giving to the IWK for more than a decade, but about six years ago the Havre Boucher, NS, couple decided they would do a bit more for the special place that cared for their children in incredible ways. Their daughter, Amy, received corrective surgery on both legs when she was 18 months old, which allowed her to take her first steps. Their son, Dylan, was referred to a specialist at the IWK when he broke his elbow.

Jamie MacKay, IWK Supporter

The level of patient care was extremely comforting. We were in good hands through the entire journey and we'd wish the same for any parent coping with the stress and heartbreak of dealing with a sick or injured child.

The annual Sacred Temple Tattoos IWK Fundraiser takes place at the Havre Boucher Community Centre and includes a fun-filled day with auctions, BBQs, live music, bake sales and more. There is also an online art auction on Facebook which has grown exponentially over the past six years. The event relies on dedicated volunteers, many of whom have also visited the IWK. Since 2010, the Sacred Temple Tattoos IWK Fundraiser has raised over $95,000 in support of the IWK! This is a shining example of how grassroots fundraising can have a huge impact on patient care.

Thank you, Jamie, Cara and volunteers for your ongoing commitment to the IWK – your support is helping improve and save lives.
