Devontae Sparks-Beals, IWK patient

Devontae Sparks-Beals

When Devontae was born in May 2020, his care team thought something didn’t sound quite right with his heart.

Ty Doucette

For six weeks Ty Doucette battled an ear infection that three different antibiotics did not cure. As he kept getting sicker and sicker, his moms Dianna and Nichole knew that there had to be more going on.

Norah Matchett

When Norah Matchett was three years old, she was adopted from an orphanage in India. Her parents, Marie and Erik, brought her home to Charter Settlement, NB knowing the IWK would become part of their lives.

Liam Willman

Liam Willman of Chester, NS was born with half a heart—a condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He had five open heart surgeries and countless stays at the IWK by the time he was a three-year-old.

When Harper Saunders of Waterville, NB became ill in the spring of 2017 her family turned to the IWK for help. It was there that she received a devastating diagnoses that would see the IWK become her home away from home for the next two years.
