Meet Our Heroes

IWK Heroes

When you give to the IWK Foundation, you are helping to change the lives of the women, children and youth who depend on the IWK.

We are honoured to share the stories of courageous patients, amazing caregivers and generous supporters who know the value of the IWK to the Maritime community.

Meet some of the people who bring the IWK to life every day.

Liam Willman, IWK Patient

Liam Willman

Liam Willman of Chester, NS was born with half a heart—a condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He had five open heart surgeries and countless stays at the IWK by the time he was a three-year-old.

Harper Saunders, IWK patient

Harper Saunders

When Harper Saunders of Waterville, NB became ill in the spring of 2017 her family turned to the IWK for help. It was there that she received a devastating diagnoses that would see the IWK become her home away from home for the next two years.

Pierre Luc & Geneviève Haché, IWK patients

Pierre Luc & Geneviève Haché

It’s not at all uncommon for siblings to have shared traits or similar physical attributes, but for Pierre Luc and Geneviève Haché, they shared something less expected—childhood cancer.
