Siena, IWK patient - then and now

Siena

“We moved into the IWK on Mother’s Day 2018,” said Randa, mom to one-year old Siena. That was the day she and her partner Dean learned their baby girl had cancer.

Hope from New Waterford, Cape Breton was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was two – a condition that affects her muscle strength and her ability to eat food. In June 2018, at the age of seven, the IWK continues to be there for every step of her health care journey.

Michael is no stranger to the IWK Telethon for Children. We first met this incredible young man in 2011 when he was battling a brain tumour. Now in remission, Michael is studying engineering and continues to give back to the place that saved his life. Let’s see how Michael is doing today.

Twin brothers Brennan and Liam were born prematurely at 28 weeks in 2017 and needed the highly specialized care of the IWK to have a fighting chance.
