When 17-year-old Tesa Ramsay learned she had Crohn’s disease and juvenile arthritis she was determined not to let it end her passion for dancing. Thanks to the care she received from the IWK and her local hospital, she continues to soar across the stage. Let’s meet this inspiring young lady.

At 18 months old, Eva Lee’s behavior changed virtually overnight.

She stopped talking, stopped using utensils and started using her hands to eat. Her parents initially thought her behavior was out of jealousy toward her new sibling, but her symptoms continued to worsen.

Hannah Dickinson

Hannah Dickinson from Hillsborough, New Brunswick knows the devastating impacts of mental illness. Living with an eating disorder for more than two years, Hannah and her family credits the IWK Health Centre with saving her life.

When young Mackenzie bumped her head during a bout of the flu, the virus started to affect her body in an unusual way. As time went on, the symptoms of her flu infection seemed to worsen so her father brought her to the emergency department at the Georges Dumont Hospital in Moncton, NB.

In early July 2016, a fall off a bleacher landed five-year old Ella Elkins, then of Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, in her local hospital. She was rushed to the Janeway Hospital in St. John’s with what appeared to be a brain hemorrhage.
