Alyssa Rose

After experiencing frequent headaches and blurry vision, Alyssa was diagnosed with a tumour on her brain stem that required a complex surgery. The support of her school and the IWK Health Centre's Child Life team helped give her strength as she began her IWK journey.

A day after this story was filmed, Alyssa learned that her tumour had grown. She underwent seven weeks of intense radiation therapy and today her doctors are optimistic that her tumour is dying. As a result of her latest treatment, she is currently being followed by endocrinology and neurology as they monitor the side effects she is experiencing.
