Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS)

Members of the Construction Association of Nova Scotia (CANS) demonstrated outstanding generosity when they came together to build a healthier community by supporting the IWK Health Centre.

The CANS Campaign for the IWK raised over $1.5 Million to help transform the IWK's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which cares for the IWK's tiniest and most critically ill babies.

This amazing gift proves how an industry can join together to do something phenomenal. Their hard work and dedication to this cause was unwavering.

As Atlantic Canadian builders, we believe in creating world-class facilities right here at home.

The NICU - which is currently an open-concept area – will change to include private single and twin rooms where families can be together during the hospitalization of their premature or critically ill infant. Families spend weeks and sometimes months inside the NICU and undoubtedly experience a multitude of emotions - from sadness, fear and worry to complete elation and joy – and everything in between. The new design, which allows the family to reconfigure the room as required for the level of illness of their baby, will be one of the first in North America.

Thank you to each and every company from the Construction Association of Nova Scotia who supported the CANS Campaign for the IWK – you are laying the groundwork for the next phase of the IWK's history.
