Gar & Bonnie Gillis

Gar & Bonnie Gillis, of Point Prim, PEI, are well known on the Island for their impressive bottle house village located in their backyard. Now, they are also known as great friends of the IWK.

For many years, the Gillis' have accepted donations from visitors as admission to their bottle village and have donated over $10,000 to the IWK. Their efforts have helped to purchase equipment and fund lifesaving research at the IWK.

The IWK is a special place. It gives so many children a second chance at life.

This year, Gar and Bonnie added a twist to their fundraising in hopes of having a record breaking year. They received some motivation, and donations, from summer resident, Charlene Guibeau. "I have been acquiring donations from my friends and family back in the United States asking them to support Gar and his goal of raising as much money possible for the IWK," says Charlene. The plan? If the couple collected $1,500 for the IWK, Charlene would allow Gar to shave her head! Not only did they reach their goal - they doubled it by raising $3,000.

The IWK Health Centre is so fortunate to have donors throughout the Maritimes like Gar & Bonnie Gillis – thank you for your support and dedication.
