Hannah Harrington

Hannah Harrington has a very special connection to the IWK. Her little brother, Quinn, had open-heart surgery shortly after he was born. During Quinn's stay, Hannah developed a keen interest in the IWK and a deep appreciation for how they "healed" her brother. She decided she wanted to give back.

In honour of Quinn, Hannah decided to host a Heart Art Show at her school, Queen Elizabeth Elementary School. Students would create "heart" themed artwork and invite their parents and the community to purchase the pieces of art on Valentine's Day. The inaugural event, in 2009, raised more than $1,700 for the IWK!

After everything he went through, you realize how much more you appreciate having him in your life.

The following year, Hannah invited all schools in her area to participate. Bloomfield Elementary, St. Louis Elementary and O’Leary Elementary have all hosted their very own Heart Art Shows and to date the students have raised over $11,000 for the IWK Health Centre!

We all have the power to inspire greatness in others and Hannah is an excellent example of someone who took the initiative and combined it with her passion to make something simply amazing happen in her community.

Thank you Hannah, and the teams at Queen Elizabeth Elementary, Bloomfield Elementary, St. Louis Elementary and O’Leary Elementary schools for your passion and commitment to the IWK!
