In 2009, Hannah’s simple leg pains ended up being a devastating diagnosis of leukemia. During the months that she spent at the IWK receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatments, Hannah developed a special bond with her oncologist, Dr. Bruce Crooks.

Ten year old Mackenzie of Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia, has a unique view of the world and has discovered a way to share it – through the lens of her camera. After receiving a Nikon camera for Christmas, Mackenzie quickly mastered its settings and started capturing images.
Jamie MacKay and his wife, Cara, have been giving to the IWK for more than a decade, but about six years ago the Havre Boucher, NS, couple decided they would do a bit more for the special place that cared for their children in incredible ways.
Hannah has a very special connection to the IWK. Her little brother, Quinn, had open-heart surgery shortly after he was born. During Quinn's stay, Hannah developed a keen interest in the IWK and a deep appreciation for how they "healed" her brother. She decided she wanted to give back.
Gar & Bonnie, of Point Prim, PEI, are well known on the Island for their impressive bottle house village located in their backyard. Now, they are also known as great friends of the IWK.
